Army foils Boko Haram attack in Yobe, recovers arms, ammunition

The Nigerian Army on Thursday said, troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have foiled an attempted attack on Babangida town in Yobe State.

A statement by Onyema Nwachukwu Brigadier General
Director Army Public Relations said, the insurgents tried to over run the town, but met with a fierce attack by Nigerian troops.

Arms and ammunition recovered

According to him, the troops recovered one gun truck, one Dushka Anti Aircraft Gun, two AK 47 rifles and unprimed Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from the fleeing terrorists.
He said, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya applauded the troops for their swiftness,
vigilance, in repelling the insurgents.

The statement said, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya encouraged troops  to remain focused, and avoid any form of distraction from the terrorists.

Arms and Ammunition recovered

The statement assured aw-abiding people of Yobe State and North East in general, of the Chief of Army Staff’s determination to finally wipe out Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists from their hideouts.

He advised the residents to always  continue to avail  troops with actionable information that would enhance speedy execution of ongoing Counter Terrorism,  Counter Insurgency operations in the region.
