By June 3, 2021, the new Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi will be 100 days in office.
Dr. Armed Abubakar Audi took over from Mr. Hilary Kelechi Madu who spent some weeks in acting capacity, after his predecessor, Alhaji Mohammed Gana was retired from service after his first four years term in office.
Dr. Audi’s appointment as the Commandant General of the corps did not come as a surprise to many officers and men in the corps, who know the quality of personnel he was made, having worked in different capacities; operations, intelligence, administrative among others.
Dr. Audi (PhD) who had his doctorate Degree in Public Administration besides his two professional masters in Criminal Justice (ABU), Master in Public Administration (UNICAL) was most time described as a workaholic officer and a detribalised Nigerian who takes the welfare of his personnel as top priority.
Though not satisfied with all his intellectual prowess, including professional experience, Dr. Audi planned to sorround himself with professional team of experts and a think tank that will spearhead the digitalisation process of the Corps.
To show concern for officers and men, there by boasting their morals, CG Dr. Audi, during his inaugural speech on March 2, 2021, promised to pay all acrued arrears of his personnel from 2014 to 2018. A promise many over joy officers believed it’s a dream come through, as the process has already been completed, but for the alert.
Few weeks after he assumed office, Dr. Audi knowing the importance of women corps, established a first ever formidable women Corps that will compete favourably with their male counterparts in training, tactics and efficiently in service delivery.
Already, gallant Women Corps Officers have been trained, positioned for service delivery.
Another remarkable feature of Dr. Audi is for all officers, irrespective of your religion, tribe to text the leadership position as he announced that officers who have stayed in a particular place for five years, need to be transferred. This give room for others to be groomed, have a taste and experience on the job.
He has concluded plans to reposition the Corps for it to surpasses the dreams and expectations of the agency’s forebears, just as he promised during his inaugural speech.
Hear him, ” We shall fortify the rangers with adquate training and retraining programmes to key into the agenda of president Muhammadu Buhari. To ensure food security and banish hunger in the country, this becomes reality if our men protect Farmers and their investments from incessant attacks by bandits, cattle rustlers, terrorists and other criminals.
