Six Months After, FCMB Fails To Refund Customer’s N66,000

For close to six months, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has failed to rectify an unauthorised financial transaction that took place on the account of one of its customers.

The customer, Barka Mohammed, told FIJ his FCMB account was hacked on November 6, 2020 at about 8pm and N66,000 was debited from his account.

Noticing this transaction on his account, Barka said he notified FCMB on this development. He also reached to out Kuda Bank, where the money was transferred to. Kuda Bank told him FCMB was yet to open a correspondence with them.

“I’ve banked with FCMB Since 2014 and even if I’m not a millionaire, I’ve history with them and records will show they’ve profited off me multiple times. All I want is my money back and the individual prosecuted,” Barka told FIJ.

In April, when FIJ reached out to FCMB for comments on the matter, Ernest Ipogah, its Customer Service Representative, promised to look into the situation and find a solution.

“Please be informed we are in receipt of the customer’s complaint and this is being investigated. Once we have the outcome of the investigation, the customer will be notified with our feedback.” Ernest Ipogah wrote.
