Right from his humble beginning as Director- General, BPE, he always imbibe the culture of qualified men and women to occupy certain positions, for them to deliver well. This made him to achieve great, and become a great man.

Alhaji Mohammed Munir Jaafaru OFR, mni was born on 25th March, 1956 in Zaria.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a Bachelors of Law (LL.B) honours (1979) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1980 as a Barrister and Solicitor.

Alhaji Ja’afaru also holds a Masters of Law (LL.M) from the same university (1983).

He started his career as a Lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1981-1983.

He attended the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru (1991).

He was at various times the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Honourable Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Chairman, Kaduna State Prerogative of Mercy Kaduna State (1987-1990).

Secretary, Nigerian Railway Corporation (1990-1992).Director Nigerian Hotels Ltd 1990-1992. Director Kaduna State Property Development Company 1992-1994.

Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, National Maritime Authority 1992-1996. Chairman Nigeria Unity Line, Apapa Lagos 1995-1996.

Chairman, Corporate Alliance and General Insurance, Lagos 1997-. Chairman, N.E.M Insurance 1999. First Vice President, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industry and Agriculture 1998.

From 2001-2005, he was the President, Kaduna Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines & Agriculture (KADCCIMA).

He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited. He was a one-time Director-General and Chief Executive of National Maritime Authority, and also a Director in many organizations like Nigerian Hotels Limited, Leasing Company of Nigeria, Chairman, NEM Insurance Plc.

He was the Chairman of the Nigerian Export Processing & Free Trade Zone (NEPZA), and serves on the Board of Tantalizers Plc among others.

He serves in various Federal/State committees and Non-Governmental Organizations.

Turbanned Yariman Zazzau in 1995. He is currently the District Head of Hanwa, Sabon-Gari, Zaria.

He is also a recipient of the Officer of the Order of the Federation (OFR) in 2003.

Munir’s father Ja’afaru Dan Isiyaku was the sixteenth Sarkin Zazzau, he reigned from 1937 to 1959.

As Emir of Zaria, he was administrative head of Zaria Emirate Native Authority which consisted of seventeen districts and he was responsible for the maintenance of law and order within the emirate.
