Following the spread of deadly disease, COVID19, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Friday, said it had deployed 10,000 operatives to various isolation centres nationwide.
In a statement by the NSCDC spokesman, Emma Okeh, said, the NSCDC Commandant-General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, further said, “as a frontline responder on COVID-19 containment and guidelines enforcement, the corps had carried out sensitisation and citizens’ enlightenment.”
The CG, who spoke at a programme organised by the CLEEN Foundation and the British High Commission on lessons learnt on COVID-19 policing, said all hands must be on deck in ensuring a resilient society
“as the COVID-19 pandemic has crumbled the global economy.”
His words: “The NSCDC has deployed over 10,000 personnel to provide physical security at the various isolation centres across the country to ensure safety and security of patients and to help prevent the recalcitrant ones from running away.”
The CG Muhammadu commended the personnel on the frontlines of COVID-19 duty, noting that some of them were infected by the disease.
He appealed for improved partnership, especially in the provision of personal protection equipment and other materials for the corps officials.
