Breaking: Seven Dismissed Soldiers  Arrested For Armed Robbery


Seven dismissed Soldiers have been arrested for armed robbery in Lagos State.

This information was disclosed to newsmen on Monday by the Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Zubairu Muazu.
Muazu said the dismissed soldiers had been terrorising the people Ijegun area of the state and environ for a long time, operating in military uniforms.

He said the operation that eventually led to the fall of the gang was the matching of a Lexus car RX330 on February 18, 2019 from the owner, who was heading to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at about 4:35pm.
Muazu said on receipt of the report and others, he deployed operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to track and arrest the robbery gang.
Members of the robbery gang were arrested at Ijegun, Baruwa Estate, Ipaja, Iyana-Paja, Ishashi and Ikotun areas of Lagos, the CP further revealed.

He gave the names of the all-male dismissed soldiers arrested as Ndidi Oluchukwu, 30; Owolabi Adeyemo, 42; David Olufemi, 47; Iseyin Samuel Israel, 41; Emeka Ibeh, 29; Samuel Anochime, 36; and Ebedot Stephen, 27.

Items recovered from them included 12 pairs of military camouflage uniforms, two cutlasses, ATM cards, military ID cards, jack knives, a female pant and a local ring.
Muazu said the suspects confessed to be responsible for series of robberies within Ijegun and its environs, adding that they will be charged to court.
