As part of efforts to put smiles on the faces of Kaduna retirees, the state government has concluded arrangement to pay the retirees their benefits and monthly pensions.
In a statement issued. and signed by Special Adviser to the governor (Media and Communications), Mr.
Muyiwa Adekeye said,
“From 1 January 2017, the Kaduna State Government began operating the contributory pension scheme (CPS).”
” This state is also running the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) for workers who retired prior to the commencement of the contributory scheme.
“The State Bureau of Penson introduced the I am Alive Scheme to verify pensioners on the defined benefit scheme. This removes the hassle usually occasioned by the arduous physical verification pensioners used to endure.
“The I am Alive scheme requires every pensioner on DBS to verify their status once every three months by visiting designated bank branches and thumbprinting on a machine.
“The Kaduna State Government is scheduled to commence the verification of 969 workers who retired between 1998 and 2016 for inclusion in the defined benefit scheme.
“Most of the retirees invited for the verification exercise are from the local government service and they are expected to comply with the verification timetable. Retirees from MDAs are similarly expected on the dates indicated.
“The exercise will start on Monday, 16th September 2019. The list of the concerned 969 workers is available on www.kdsg.gov.ng.
” Only persons listed or their next of kin are expected at the verification exercise.
“Persons invited for the verification exercise must present all necessary documents, including the following:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Death Certificate (of deceased retiree)
3. Affidavit of Next of Kin
4. Valid Means of Identification (Voter’s Card, National ID card, among others)
