Again, the Kaduna State House of Assembly elected a Muslim-Muslim leadership to steer the affair of the 6th House in the next four years of legislation.
This is against the zoning arrangement where the position of deputy speaker is usually go to zone 3.
Those elected include Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Shagali as Speaker and Alhaji Yusuf Zaillani, as deputy speaker respectively.
As it stands, the Southern Kaduna part of the State has been denied major leadership position under the second term administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
While the Speaker , Hon. Shagali, represent Sabon Gari Zaria State constituency was returned as Speaker for 6th Assembly, the deputy Speaker, Hon. Zaillani represent Igabi West State Constituency in zones 1 and 2, north and Central parts of Kaduna State respectively.
Shehu Goro Shaddalafiya, representing kagarko constituency, the immediate past deputy Speaker was a Christian from Southern area of the state lost to the PDP candidate that swept the zone.
Besides, Aminu Shagali, 39, has been in the state House of assembly since 2011 as an All Progressives Congress, APC, member representing Sabon Gari, Zaria. He became Speaker in 2015 on the heels of the political Surname that urshered in the APC as ruling party both at the federal and Kaduna state levels.
The election of the two Muslims as Speaker and deputy has however set the tongues wagging in some part of Kaduna state especially zone 3, in Southern Kaduna.
Until yesterday, the 6thAssembly, under the current Democratic desperation, the position of deputy speakership had always been zoned and automatically reserved for a Southern kaduna minority.
Throughout the 16th years of people’s Democratic Party, PDP, the status quo was maintained including the position of the deputy Governor which is always earmarked to the southern part of the State and the seat of number two citizen of the state.
It would be recalled that the Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir elrufai picked a female Muslim woman as running mate and won the election as governor and deputy governor.
